Kevin would come closer to turners style of the ones you mentioned..TOUGH, HARD NOSE FOOTBALL,,
Not been posting much lately. However to keep the one post from becoming a lot of crap. Well here is the scoop so far, as far as Appy head coaches. So post here on who you think.
1) Travis Turner - Current Off. Coach. May or may not want the job. May not be qualified to teach yet? Also seen what his dad went through as a head coach, may influence his decision.
2) Kevin Saunders- Currently signed with Shelby Valley. Not sure most consider him a fit with Appy football. Even if he had not signed with Shelby Valley. May of hurt himself in Wise Co. with his past job. Some times folks in Wise Co. aren't very forgiving.
3) Bobby Sanders - Former and present Dawg Asst. and former Coeburn head coach. May not have that Tom Turner, Appy Football attitude to get the job done. That get ya [censored] in gear and get it done attitude. Plus his performance at Coeburn as a head coach. Good man but that don't always cut it as a head football coach on any level.
4) Look outside - Yeah i know but what about it? Some one in the nack of Appy football, in your face coaching and getting after it, yet not acquainted with the personnel or program. Never know.
Add in who you think.
To me it's still up in the air.
But don't forget Tom is leaving some big shoes to fill, in Appy Dawg Football and the style of football.
26 yrs. one head coach. Not easy shoes to fill.
Also some should add some comments to the thread about coach Turner retiring.
I hear it may be added to a scrap book for him.
Thanks,

I cant imagine anybody but Travis Tuner taking over.
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

I think Bobby Sanders would do good.

I don't think Sanders really has the presence to be a good head coach, he wasn't too impressive at Coeburn. I mean, the guy didn't say five words at practice, from what I've heard.
National Finals Rodeo, starts November 30th
out of the three Saunders is the most qualified.

Don't you have to have Dawg blood to coach there?
Anyone who has played under Bobby Sanders knows hes a good coach, a good motivater, and a just an overall class act. He would be fine head coach.
Whenever Travis Turner is ready though he would be a good choice as well, Sanders and Turner would work good together.
The Saunders thing seems kinda odd to me, hes never really coached at a small school, and one as poorly funded as Appalachia.
I wouldn't hire Saunders to coach pit bulls. I've seen his crap first hand and that showed me all I needed to know. May know football no doubt, but people interaction gets a big ole fat F!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey here's ya one Barry Jones from Gate City former PV defensive cord. What a way to bring the heat back to an old rivalry............
